The Mas BECHA vineyard is located next to Perpignan in the South of France, a few kilometres from the former Spanish road and stretches over more than 100 hectares on the ranked Aspres region.
This delimited area is made of gravely calcareous clay with outstanding typical rolled pebbles (round rocks arising from glacier erosion) from the post-quaternary era. This gives excellent drainage to the soil that allows an exceptional resistance of our vineyard to the Mediterranean climate and an outstanding concentration of the grapes.
This typical vineyard of the Roussillon was planted 50 years ago but undergoes quite a boom since its buyout by the Perez family in 1997.
The grape varieties are Black Grenache, White Grenache Blanc, Muscat of Alexandria, Muscat Petit Grain, 10 continuous hectares of Syrah, and small plots of Mourvèdre, Carignan and Merlot, ensuring the production of a large range of products starting from one or two grape varieties, to the more elaborated “Côtes du Roussillon” wines.
A special care is given to the assemblages to make the most of our typical vineyard. During wine growing, thinning out of leaves and green harvest are used together to land plot selection to monitor our yield per hectare. Moreover, only measured treatments are used to minimize their environmental impact. Our production approach is designed to promote our typical vineyard.
Harvest last more than one month as the grape varieties are very diverse. A large range of vinification tanks is used to develop our grape selections (concrete, epoxi resin and fibreglass). In addition, the cellar is fully equiped for temperature control during long-standing soakings and white wine production.
